KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) Thursday issued notices to those acquitted in Murtaza Bhutto murder case and sought all related record from sessions court.
The trial court acquitted all 18 defendants including former Sindh IG Police Shoaib Suddle, former Intelligence Bureau chief Masood Sharif, former SSP Wajid Ali Durrani and other police officials in Mir Murtaza Bhutto murder case.
Appellant, Noor Mohammad”s counsel Omer Sayal requested against the acquittal of officials on the charge of murdering Murtaza Bhutto and his companions in an alleged shootout, by an additional district and sessions judge on December 5, 2009.
Noor Mohammad submitted the trial court acquitted all defendants, indirectly holding nobody responsible for the crime and prayed the trial court to set aside the judgement.
Hearing into the appeal was adjourned till March 31.
PPP-SB chief Mir Murtaza Bhutto, brother of former premier Benazir Bhutto, was killed along with his seven aides including Ashiq Jatoi on September 20, 1996 near his Clifton residence while returning from Surjani Town.
