PESHAWAR: A local Accountability court sentenced Superintendent Customs Hameed Ali Abbasi four-year term in prison and fined him Rs10.5 million for building up illegal assets, Geo News reported Monday.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a reference of Rs2.5 million against Hameed in 2007. Also, in 2008, it filed another reference of Rs8.255 million.
Accountability Court judge Irshad Qaiser heard the references and delivered the verdict, as the guilt was proved.
Hameed Ali Abbasi was fined Rs2.5 million in the first reference and Rs8 million in the other one.
He was sentenced four years in jail and a total of 10.5 million was fined.
Abbasi was arrested from courtroom after the verdict.
