KARACHI: The fire at a cloth godown situated in Landhi?s Export Processing Zone has been brought under control after efforts of six hours; however, the cloths and shoes worth millions of rupees were gutted down, Geo News reported Wednesday.
According to fire brigade officials, the fire erupted suddenly in the Landhi Export Processing Zone at 2am, which engulfed the entire building within no time.
Initially three fire tenders were tasked; however, more fire tenders had to be summoned as the fire assumed more intensity. The fire fighters faced problems owing to the shortage of water and strong wind.
Chief Fire Officer Ihtishamud Din said at least two snorkels, four water bowsers and 23 fire tenders participated in the fire fighting
He held the fire as third-stage blaze. The fire was put out in six hours; however, the cooling process is still underway at the blaze site.
