ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said there was a significant improvement in relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan after Pakistan People?s Party (PPP) came into power.
Speaking to a private television programme, he said Pakistan wanted good relations with all its neighboring countries.
Referring to the recent trilateral meeting held among Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran in Islamabad, Qureshi said the joint declaration issued on the occasion clearly showed that Pakistan?s relations with its neighbors particularly Iran had improved.
Responding to a question, he said Pakistan had very warm relations with China but the trade between the two friendly states needed to be further expanded.
He said presently it was on a small scale ranging between dollar six billion to dollar seven billion. The foreign minister said presently the trade between China and India was above dollar 60 billion.
He said ?We have very close friendship with China and therefore we should strive to expand trade with our great neighbour.?
He said since great scope existed for increasing the volume of trade with China we should work hard to seize the opportunity?.
He paid rich tribute to China and said it would always welcome our efforts to expand trade with it?
