PESHAWAR: NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani on Sunday said that enemies of Pakistan were hatching a conspiracy to cease the country?s nuclear assets for which the so-called religious elements were being exploited.
Addressing the participants of a security workshop hosted by National Defense University at the Governor House in Peshawar, he said that Pakistan was formed in the name of Islamic ideology and fundamentalism. Therefore, there was no justification for jihad in this country.
Governor Ghani said the government has achieved tremendous successes in crushing insurgency in the tribal areas. He said that militants would be flushed out of tribal region in short time.
A vast area of Fata and NWFP has been cleared of insurgents, he said, adding that enemies are trying to close down the nuclear assets of Pakistan.
The governor said that Mehsud tribe of South Waziristan was extending full cooperation to the government.
